8 Facts From Behind the Scenes of Batman: Arkham Origins
- #034
Batman: Arkham Origins was written by Dooma Wendschuh, Ryan Galletta and Corey May, with input from DC Comics and comic-book writer Geoff Johns, while Eric Holmes served as creative director. Holmes said the prequel setting allowed the game to explore Batman's inexperience and greater vulnerability rather than the fully formed character of the earlier Arkham titles.

The New Gotham area of Batman: Arkham Origins was designed for vertical movement, letting enemies be placed above and below Batman to create areas dense with activity.
- #041
Batman: Arkham Origins divides its city into residential, industrial and commercial neighborhoods with matching decorations: the industrial setting is bleak, the commercial area carries corporate decorations and residential windows have lights.
- #042
For Batman: Arkham Origins, the designers intended the younger Batman's outfit to appear assembled rather than manufactured, built from several sources. According to Holmes, the suit was not factory-made but was constructed from pieces of technology Batman invented, fabricated, or took from the Wayne facilities.

To convey the mystery and fear Batman inspired early in his career, art director Jeremy Price and the design team relied on silhouettes and film noir-style low-key lighting to make the character more imposing in Batman: Arkham Origins.
- #049
The crime scenes using Detective Vision in Batman: Arkham Origins were intentionally kept short and visually satisfying rather than difficult, with designers settling on a length of two to three minutes after testing how much evidence players wanted to scan before solving them.
- #050
For Batman: Arkham Origins, the theater aboard Penguin's ship was reduced in size during development to force enemies closer together, and a hovering drone was cut after test players defeated it too easily.
- #055
Drake worked out of Burbank, California, and approached the cinematic scenes of Batman: Arkham Origins like a traditional film score, with the design team describing scenes to him over the phone.
