We keep as little as the archive needs to work.

Reading

Reading the archive needs no account. Two small preference cookies may be set on your device: ae_theme (light or dark) and ae_locale (Turkish or English). A session cookie is used to protect forms against forgery.

Searches

We record search terms in normalised form with the number of results, to learn what readers look for and what is missing. No IP address, account or device identifier is stored with a search.

Requests and messages

When you request a title we store the title and a one-way hash of your IP address, used only to limit abuse. When you send a message we store your email address, subject and message so we can reply. We do not sell or share what you send.
