   In the US/Canada version of the game, after completing it players can encounter a battle with three characters returning from Chrono Trigger (1995): Slash, Flea and Ozzie. These characters (obviously) bear the names of rock legends: Slash of Guns 'N Roses, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ozzy Osbourne. These are also mistranslations; in the original Chrono Trigger they took their names from condiments (Mayonnaise, Vinegar and Soy Sauce). However, translator Ted Woolsey changed the names, thinking the joke would not be well received.

   To obtain Leena (Serge's girlfriend in another dimension), you must refuse Kid's invitation to join your party at Cape Howl. Kid may ask you several times; simply refuse her at Cape Howl. You can accept her later in Termina, or even later at Viper Manor. There is no benefit to refusing Kid in Termina, so you may as well accept her there.

   Rumors of a possible third game in the series began when Square Enix filed a trademark for "Chrono Break" in 2001. Various team members from the original Chrono Trigger project came forward in interviews over the year, mentioning other projects or difficulties preventing the team members from reuniting for a third project. In a 2014 interview, Hironobu Sakaguchi stated that he hoped to move forward with a third Chrono project but that disagreements between himself and upper management at Square prevented it from happening. In December 2017, Takashi Tokita stated that he had reworked various ideas for the Chrono Break project as Final Fantasy Dimensions II (2017).

    The Draconians (extinct at the start of the game) were Reptites that evolved from a timeline in Chrono Trigger in which the Reptites invaded the humans and became a dominant, evolved race. The Reptites' Terra Tower was pulled into the game's dimension in response to the Time Crash, which dragged Chronopolis from the future into the Dead Sea. A war broke out between the two groups, resulting in the death of the Draconians.
