After a delay during production, Paresh Rawal left the film because of scheduling conflicts with his role as a BJP Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) in the Lok Sabha. Rishi Kapoor was brought in to replace him. Paresh later claimed it was appropriate for him to do the film, but some people connected to the film did not want him in it.

Rishi Kapoor plays the 75-year-old son of Amitabh Bachchan's 102-year-old character; when the film was released in May 2018, Kapoor was actually 65 and Bachchan was 75. Sadly, Rishi Kapoor never reached the age of 75, as he died of cancer in 2020 at the age of 67.
