Sawan Kumar Tak said, "Saajan Bina Suhagan was special because it was my first golden jubilee. In those days no director was interested in Rajendra Kumar and Nutan. I thought they had not worked together at the peak of their careers because of a personal rift, and there was a subject that could do them justice. I went to Rajendra Kumar's house. His wife said he was sitting with a friend. When I went in, I found Raj Kapoor sitting with him. Rajendraji thought it was a courtesy visit, but when I had him sign a cheque for 11,000 rupees, both were stunned. Rajji admitted that even a close friend like him had not thought of casting him. I asked him to clap for the mahurat. I felt bad, but later, when the film completed its silver jubilee, he said he would distribute the LPs, and he kept the promise he made to me."
