This was French actress Audrey Tautou's first English-language role. It is all the more impressive because she speaks English without a French accent.

The temporary home of the Turkish immigrant Şenay also features a poster of the controversial Turkish director Yılmaz Güney. Güney produced many works of "courageous realism" devoted to the plight of ordinary, working-class people in Turkey. A director who clashed with typical state-approved films and with the Turkish government of the time, he eventually fled the country and later lost his citizenship.
