When Quill and the rest of the team first arrive at the Collector's gallery and the Collector turns toward them, you can briefly see Howard sitting in a glass case in the background, to the right of the Collector's head.

At roughly the 22-minute mark, Peter Quill's intake file in the space prison lists "A. K. A.: Space Lord." This is a joke referencing how no one throughout the film remembers Quill's outlaw name, Star-Lord.

At the end of the film, Gamora tells Drax he can take comfort in knowing his family has been avenged, and Gamora says his true enemy and target is Thanos. This may be a nod to the comics, where Drax's family were humans killed by Thanos shortly after he landed on Earth. After that event, Drax devoted the rest of his life to killing Thanos.

Stan Lee was initially planned to appear as a cameo in the Collector's collection on Knowhere, where he would have freed Groot from a display case, possibly a nod to the fact that Groot is the only member of the team Lee had a hand in creating. The scene was cut because Lee was in the UK at the time and could not be reached for filming, and Disney executives also considered it inappropriate.
