    In 1999, actor Chris Tucker was set to play the role of an average man who unexpectedly becomes the first black President of the United States in "Mr. President." However, Head of State (2003) went into production before "Mr. President" even began. Chris Tucker still insisted his film would be made and had in fact done considerable research for the role. He visited troops in Virginia, volunteered to encourage voter registration, and consulted Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela and Jesse Jackson, the first major black presidential candidate. By 2008 Barack Obama was elected president in real life, and the film was shelved entirely.
