The film's release was a long and complicated process. Originally scheduled by Lionsgate for a January 2025 release, it was pulled from the calendar because post-production could not be completed in time. Lionsgate then dropped the distribution rights, leaving the independent studio Black Bear Pictures to find a new buyer or handle distribution itself. Ultimately, Black Bear distributed the film itself in May 2026, but it had a dismal domestic opening and became a box office bomb.
