The triplets Alexis, Brooke and Brynn Clagett were chosen from a national casting call to play baby Sophie. According to their mother, Erin Clagett, each child was picked to play Sophie based on her personality and what the scene required. For example, Brooke could follow instructions better and played Sophie in scenes where the baby had to clap her hands or react in a certain way; Brynn's reactions were more unpredictable, and Alexis was better suited to the crying and sleeping scenes.
