This was Juno Temple's first major role and her first audition. When she first told her parents she wanted to be an actress, they tried to discourage her, saying, "You can't just walk into this and be good. You'll have to work and fight for it." Her mother sent her to the open audition for this film to show her how much competition there was. But Temple was then hired. A year later, she was hired again at the next audition, for Atonement (2007). At that point her mother said: "Damn it, well, it's all downhill from here, isn't it?" It wasn't. She has appeared in films and on television almost every year.
