In the original, a rich, spoiled socialite woman mistreats a male handyman, and after she loses her memory her life is rewritten by him. In this film the socialite is a man and the handyman is a woman. Even the handyman's children are gender-swapped: the original has four boys, while this version has three girls.

Many Latin American telenovelas use this film's premise in different ways; sometimes the girl is poor and loves a rich man, or the reverse.
