David Auburn's play "Proof" premiered in May 2000 at the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City. On 24 October 2000 it transferred to the Walter Kerr Theatre, where it ran for nine hundred and seventeen performances. "Proof" won the 2001 Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama the same year.
