During filming, director Garry Marshall kept calling Kate Hudson "Goldie." He had worked with Hudson's mother, Goldie Hawn, on Overboard (1987) and said the two looked and behaved so much alike that he constantly mixed up the name. Hudson was a good sport about it, but the crew set up a box for Marshall to pay five dollars into every time he addressed her by the wrong name. At the end of filming, the money in the box paid for a generous party Hudson threw for the entire crew.
