According to director Claire Scanlon, the pizza scene was the opposite of a romantic movie scene, and the amount of pizza consumed was "disgusting." Because Glen Powell is gluten-free, the prop master was responsible for providing two different types of pizza for the scene. Zoey Deutch refused to use the spit bucket on set during multiple takes and eventually ate so much pizza that she threw up.
