A young man born into an oligarch family is so spoiled that he believes he's above the law. When he faces jail, his father decides to 'rehabilitate' his son. An abandoned village is reconstructed, 19th century style. The spoiled brat 'goes back in time', reincarnated as a serf, to learn how to appreciate life and to work hard.

The lyrics of Tarkan's song "Şımarık" were written by Sezen Aksu, but Tarkan was credited as the composer of the music. In a 2006 interview, Tarkan acknowledged that this was done without Aksu's approval and that the true copyright holder was Aksu.

The song is considered Tarkan's first release in single format. Although he had put out three albums before it, he had never released a single due to the album-oriented structure of the Turkish music industry.

When "Şımarık" was released in Europe, it reached number one in Wallonia and number two in Norway, and climbed to number three in Switzerland, France and the Netherlands. The song went gold in Europe, and the award was presented to Tarkan at Cannes Midem and by Universal in Germany.

The song's music video was directed by Emmanuel Saada and shot in "Le panier", a narrow-streeted, cobblestoned neighbourhood in Marseille, France. It was the first music video Saada directed.

In the video, women begin chasing Tarkan to kiss him as he walks down the street; the crowd grows as the song progresses and Tarkan is forced to flee. As the song ends, Tarkan takes refuge on a street corner and kisses a little girl there on the forehead.

In France, a promotional CD single with an orange cover containing a single track was released; it was the first release and is now considered a collector's item. A limited fan-edition single was also put out in Germany, sold together with a Tarkan poster.

An English adaptation of the song, "Kiss Kiss", was released in 2001 as the debut single of American artist Stella Soleil, with rewritten lyrics. Its video was directed by Hype Williams; it takes place on a beach at night and cuts to aerial views of the shore as Soleil dances in the sand.

Australian actress Holly Valance released "Kiss Kiss" as her debut single on 29 April 2002, and it reached number one on both the Australian and UK charts. The single entered the UK chart at number one, selling 143,408 copies in its first week.
