According to Tip 'T. I.' Harris, who plays Ghost and also serves as a producer, there was a planned sequel to Takers that would have served as a prequel highlighting the original heist carried out by the crew referenced in the film, in which Ghost is caught and sent to prison. The original cast was set to star in the sequel, but those plans were cancelled when Paul Walker died. Harris said that out of his respect and love for Walker, it was impossible that anyone would want to continue with a prequel without him.
