(Around 1 hour 6 minutes) While Eddie tries to find Cletus at Coit Tower, several helicopters pass by searching for Venom and Carnage. This was not planned; the helicopters were actually part of the filming of The Matrix Resurrections (2021), which was shooting in the same part of San Francisco as Let There Be Carnage. Rather than wait for a clearer take, Andy Serkis decided it made sense for the helicopters to move through the scene and left it in, later adding extra Tom Hardy dialogue in ADR to reference them.

(Around 1 hour 21 minutes) In the final moment, Patrick Mulligan's eyes glow blue, indicating that he has his own symbiote and setting up the role of Toxin. In the comics, Toxin, born from Carnage and the first symbiote whose host was Spider-Man, is genuinely seen as an ally. He bonded first with Mulligan and later with Eddie Brock.
- #003
(Around 15 minutes in) When Brock enters Mrs. Chen's shop, Venom has a stack of magazines ready for him. The covers of these magazines feature Marvel writer Stan Lee.
- #004
(Around 1 hour 16 minutes) During the final fight, Venom concludes that Kasady and Carnage have not truly bonded as he and Eddie have. In the comics the situation is the opposite. While Venom and Eddie remain two separate characters who call themselves "we," Kasady is genuinely bonded to his symbiote and is one of the few characters who refers to himself in the singular.
- #005
While Eddie and Venom argue with each other in the apartment, Tom Hardy recorded his lines as Venom, which were played to him by a sound operator (through the earpiece Hardy was wearing). This technique allowed Hardy to improvise his dialogue as an exasperated Eddie.
- #006
(Around 15 minutes in) Venom greets Mrs. Chen in Mandarin with "Wan shang hao!" or "Good evening."
- #007
Spider-Man's inclusion went through many iterations. Although the character ultimately has a brief role in the film's mid-credits scene, at one point he was planned to have some kind of real presence earlier in the film's story.
- #008
Andy Serkis agreed to direct the film on the condition that he be allowed to shoot most of it in his home country, England, and do all the post-production work there, because he did not want to be away from his family for long. Unknown to him, Sony was already planning to do this and was therefore looking for a UK-based director to oversee the production. As it happened, this proved very beneficial, because international air traffic was temporarily shut down during the worst period of the COVID-19 pandemic, yet production was able to continue.
- #009
Andy Serkis discusses the influence of The Odd Couple (1970) on the relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom: "They're trying to figure out how to be with each other. Eddie struggles with Venom, who is like a manic toddler, while Venom feels he is trapped inside Eddie's body."
- #010
The Venom symbiote refers to himself and Eddie as lethal protectors. This is a direct nod to the 1993 Lethal Protector comic, in which Eddie Brock makes a truce with Spider-Man and moves to San Francisco, presenting himself as an anti-hero. The name was later reclaimed for the Lethal Protectors under the Marvel comic crossover Absolute Carnage.
- #011
(Around 18 minutes in) Eddie and Anne meet at a restaurant called "L'Araignée," the French for "The Spider" and the French name for Spider-Man in the 1970s and 1980s.
- #012
(Around the 32nd minute) When Eddie fights with Venom in the apartment and Venom angrily throws things around with the chickens in the background. The chicken was placed on the kitchen counter with some corn to encourage it to stay. It looked very comfortable in this position and remained relatively still and ate the corn during this time. The refrigerator made a loud noise when it was pulled aside with "invisible" cables, but this was somewhat muffled by a rubber mat. The chicken barely reacted.

Shriek's first concept art shows that when she uses her power, her mouth would initially open unnaturally and grotesquely wide.

The Mumford Phys Ed T-shirt and Detroit Lions jacket that Eddie Brock wears throughout the film are the same ones worn by Eddie Murphy's Axel Foley in the Beverly Hills Cop series. He wears the Mumford shirt in Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), and the Detroit Lions jacket in BHC2 and Beverly Hills Cop III (1994). In Season 6 of How I Met Your Mother (2005), Marshall (Jason Segel) also wears a Mumford Phys Ed T-shirt.

Carnage can infect Venom too much for him to heal, which is why he felt so weak.
- #016
Sony chose to replace director Ruben Fleischer because of his commitment to Zombieland: Double Tap (2019). Fleischer stated that, after the harsh criticism Venom (2018) received, he approved the hiring of Andy Serkis, who was frustrated about doing a follow-up. Fleischer still received an executive producer credit on the sequel.

It is believed that Venom inherited the memories of his counterpart in Spider-Man 3 (2007) through Knull's hive mind before dying, which explains how Venom can seemingly recognize (a version of) Peter Parker. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) strengthens this theory, because every supervillain brought into the MCU knew that Peter Parker was Spider-Man, something neither Eddie nor the symbiote explicitly knew.
- #018
(Around 1 hour 27 minutes) In the stinger, Venom reveals that symbiotes have knowledge across alternate universes, just before he is inexplicably transported to the MCU in time for the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). Strange's specific spell in NWH drew in everyone who knew that Peter Parker was Spider-Man. Venom's dialogue seems confusing until one considers that he has knowledge of parallel universes, possibly memories of his alternate counterparts' battles with Peter Parker (he implies he recognizes Peter from TV), and possibly even explains how he was brought into the MCU in Spider-Man 3 (2007).

The working title during production was simply Venom 2. At one point Sony considered releasing the film under the title 'Venom: Love Will Tear Us Apart,' on the suggestion of director Andy Serkis, a fan of the 1980s English new wave band Joy Division. A cover version of the song plays at the end of the film.

In the post-credits scene, Venom is transported into an entirely different room, where he sees Spider-Man and J. Jonah Jameson from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Had he been moved between universes rather than just locations, this could explain the absence of the MCU's San Francisco-based heroes Ant-Man, Wasp and Shang-Chi from the Venom films.
- #021
(At around 15 minutes in) Mrs. Chen says she is 39 years old; in real life, Peggy Lu was actually 57 when she shot the sequel.
- #022
Filming was completed in February 2020, just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the worldwide film industry. Because of pandemic restrictions, much of the film was edited remotely, and most of the post-production work was also done during that period.
- #023
Andy Serkis was announced as the new director of the sequel, following Travis Knight, Rupert Sanders and Rupert Wyatt.

Although this Carnage shares some similarities with the original version of Carnage, his origins closely resemble those of Ultimate Carnage, created when Venom's biomass is mixed with another batch — in the comics with Ultimate Spider-Man and in the film with Eddie. He also bears a strong resemblance to Anti-Venom, created when some of Eddie's blood and part of the Venom symbiote transform into a completely new symbiote after the host is exposed to an external influence — Mr. Negative's Darkforce energies in the comics and the lethal injection drugs in the film — and who is himself a stronger clone of Venom. Carnage's ability to interface with and hack technology resembles that of Scorn, one of Carnage's offspring in the comics.

The film's release date was postponed several times because of the temporary closure of cinemas worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The original date was to be October 2020, but it was later pushed to June 2021, then again to September 2021, and finally to October 2021.
- #026
When Cletus transforms into Carnage, his body is deformed rather than embraced as Venom does with Eddie, because Carnage is an extension of Cletus.
- #027
(At around 45 minutes in) When Cletus Kasady steals the Mustang from the valet. Professional wrestling fans may notice that the valet attendant chasing Kasady has a distinctive running style. The valet attendant chasing Kasady is played by longtime WWE referee Charles Robinson. He goes uncredited.
- #028
(At around 1 hour 19 minutes in) The bell that falls on Shriek is left ambiguous enough that the character could still be alive. Even director Andy Serkis himself said a return could happen.
