As the approaching cockroach is the only thing that could survive the explosion, it is a way for the remaining symbiote blob to return to humanity or to search for Brock.

Director Kelly Marcel hinted that Knull's introduction had been planned for some time: "We were always aware of Knull, but we knew we needed to lay the groundwork of the Venom character and his relationship with Eddie before introducing him. This is just the beginning for Knull." However, with the cancellation of the SSU in 2024, these plans were scrapped.

He was still set to take on the role of Knull, and director Kelly Marcel said: "On Venom 2, we knew that if we could include the character in this film, he would be this [Knull] character. The appearance of one of the symbiotes, Agony, was announced two weeks before the film's release because it received a 'look' in Fortnite (for the annual Halloween event Fortnite Nightmares). It did not help that the SSU's She-Venom iteration was also announced to receive a look, and the looks were not specifically advertised as promoting this film, with Agony's design appearing consistent with the SSU rather than its comic book design. In addition, the inclusion of She-Venom in the same promotional push indicated that she would appear once more, however briefly, and be bonded to one of the scientists in the film.
