One of Alicia Vikander's favorite experiences during the production of Anna Karenina (2012) was shooting in the Russian countryside outside St. Petersburg. Temperatures dropped to -40 °C, and for five days she stayed in a cabin with no hot water and benches instead of beds. Russian security guards protected her and co-star Domhnall Gleeson from the wolves and bears that roamed the desolate area.
