    On May 19, 1946, Cesar Romero was a guest at Tyrone Power's house and took part in an energetic but drunken game of hide-and-seek. Among the other guests was Primula Niven, the wife of actor David Niven. Thinking she was running to a dark closet, Prim opened the basement door, ran in and fell down the entire staircase, suffering injuries that later led to her death.

    During World War II, Cesar Romero served in the United States Coast Guard aboard the USS Cavalier as a crane operator. He did the same work as the other Coast Guardsmen and asked for no special treatment. He saw action at Saipan and Tinian and earned two bronze battle stars on the PTO (Pacific Theater of Operations) ribbon. He served as a Chief Boatswain's Mate.
