Christian Bale mistook Teresa Palmer for a real-life stripper on the set of Knight of Cups (2015). During filming, director Terrence Malick spontaneously paired Bale with all kinds of people, from professional actors to random people off the street. Palmer played a stripper in the film, and she and Bale met for the first time at the strip club where the scenes were shot. Palmer spontaneously told him a convincing backstory for her character. He did not realize she was an actress rather than a professional stripper until a week after shooting the scene with her, when he saw her face on a movie billboard.
