Warwick Davis's film career began with an advertisement his grandmother heard on the radio. The ad called for people under four feet tall to audition for 'Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi' (1983). At the time, Warwick was only 2 feet 11 inches tall, and his grandmother took him to the audition. He was initially cast as an Ewok in the background, but after impressing the filmmakers during shooting his role was expanded. When Kenny Baker fell ill, Warwick took on the key role of the first Ewok Princess Leia encounters. This chance beginning was the first step in a career that would make him one of the unforgettable names of the Star Wars universe.
