He holds the 36th-highest score in the world for the classic video game Donkey Kong. Will played the game heavily while filming A Good Old Fashioned Orgy (2011) in Wilmington, NC, after watching The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007). His score can be seen on the official high-score website of Twin Galaxies, which keeps the official world records for video and pinball games for the Guinness record book. Will and Leo Daniels (13th-highest DK score), a stand-in on A Good Old Fashioned Orgy (2011), are expected to take part in a Donkey Kong play-off in the near future.

He attended the weddings of his Saturday Night Live (1975) castmates and good friends Seth Meyers and Andy Samberg in character as "Hamilton," his white-supremacist but ultimately good-hearted character from the show. At Meyers's wedding to Alexi Ashe Meyers, most of Meyers's relatives had never seen or heard of "Hamilton" and were shocked when he described Ashe's great beauty and then loudly (in character) wondered how he could marry "a hook nose." Samberg enjoyed it so much that he asked Forte to give a toast as "Hamilton" at his wedding to Joanna Newsom, and Forte spent a great deal of time before doing so finding a completely new set of jokes. At both weddings, Forte stayed in character until after his shocking "Hamilton" monologues, when he would leave, quickly change into formal attire as if nothing had happened, and return to the party.

Months before her death, Will filmed his grandmother for the Internet ads for his film The Brothers Solomon (2007), discussing her favorite dessert and questioning the film's title. He claims he never had a "broken" character during his time at The Groundlings or SNL. With the performers at The Groundlings he had a standing bet that he would pay $100 against $5 if they could make him laugh, and he claims he never lost. He also considers Chris Parnell, from the Groundlings/SNL cast, a comedian who never breaks.

As a young man, he and a friend went to see a Tony Orlando concert during a road trip. They were brought up on stage from their front-row seats to talk to Orlando. Will and his friend wrote letters thanking Orlando for encouraging them. Orlando replied to the letters, which Forte kept along with concert photos. While filming That's My Boy (2012), Forte told Orlando the story and brought the letter to show him. He also got Orlando to perform "Knock Three Times" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (2009) with The Roots house band and brought Fallon and Forte on stage to sing backup. Forte told the story when he appeared on "Fallon."
