Unlike The Mandalorian (2019), The Book of Boba Fett (2021) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), which used StageCraft to create virtual landscapes and locations, Andor did not use the technology. Instead, large-scale practical sets were built at Pinewood, and most of the shooting took place at real locations in England and Scotland.

One of the decisions made very early in production was that Andor would avoid fan service, and that old characters and references to other Star Wars stories would appear only when necessary to the story. The reason was that producer Tony Gilroy wanted to make the series realistic, focusing in particular on the lives of civilian characters and on dramatic storytelling.

Denise Gough researched the behavior of female psychopaths to prepare for the character of Dedra Meero.

Luthen's gallery contains many "Easter eggs," including items from the Indiana Jones series frozen in carbonite and various artifacts from the wider Star Wars universe.

Originally planned to run five seasons, the series will end after two seasons and 24 episodes, concluding just before the events of Rogue One. The decision was made because of the long production period and the necessary post-production time, which made each season's production schedule nearly two years. While the events of the first season take place over a few months, the second season will span four years and be shown in four blocks of three episodes, with a year passing between blocks.

The set the production team built to represent Cassian's homeworld on Ferrix was so large that Adria Arjona, who plays Bix Caleen in the series, actually got lost inside it.
- #007
Tony Gilroy, the series' writer and showrunner, led the rewrite and the shooting of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), the film in which the character Cassian Andor first appeared.
- #008
It is the first time the word "shit" is spoken in a Star Wars series. Also, according to Denise Gough, Maarva Andor was supposed to say "Fuck the Empire" in the episode Rix Road (2022). The scene was shot as intended, and when the episode was shown to Disney, they requested that additional audio be recorded for "Fight the Empire" instead.
- #009
The series cost a total of $705 million, making it the highest-budget Star Wars project ever.
- #010
Stellan Skarsgård suffered a stroke before filming for the second season began, which caused him difficulty with his lines. He wore an earpiece through which his lines were relayed to him.
- #011
Tony Gilroy designed the droid B2EMO as the Andors' family dog. He named the droid Bemo after his son's dog.
- #012
Tony Gilroy sold Anton Lesser on the project by saying, "Don't think Star Wars, think John le Carré."
- #013
The series ended on May 13, 2025, exactly ten years after it was announced that Diego Luna would play Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016).
- #014
Each director of the three-episode block had a four-month preparation period before filming began.

Cassian's weapon is a Bryar pistol introduced in the game Star Wars: Dark Forces (1995), which is set in the non-standard Star Wars Legends continuity. With the premiere of Star Wars: Battlefront (2015), the Bryar pistol was adapted into official canon. This series marks the blaster's first live-action appearance. The prop was based on the K-16 model seen in the games, but the prop designers renamed it MW-20 after adding some embellishments.

Diego Luna kept Andor's Bryar pistol after filming was completed. The prop surprised airport security when they found it in Luna's luggage, but once they realized it was not real, they allowed him to keep it.

Elizabeth Dulau listened to custom Spotify playlists she created for her character Kleya to get into specific moods.
