Series creator Don Mancini stated that this would be the final showdown between Chucky and his long-time nemesis Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), and that everything from the past would "come together." He later tweeted that if the series proved successful, there was a possibility of more films being made in the future.

The mother-daughter characters Lexy Cross and Mayor Michelle Cross are played by real-life mother and daughter Alyvia Alyn Lind and Barbara Alyn Woods.

One of Don Mancini's first conversations with Syfy about producing the series concerned Chucky's foul mouth. He insisted it was vital to the tone that Syfy state in writing that the cast could drop eight to ten uncensored f-bombs per episode. And of course, most of them are claimed by the little slasher. Each "Previously on" segment tends to be better after the first episode, since it is usually the episode's tone-setting opener.
