The series was Rock Hudson's final acting role. Hudson's last appearance as himself was at the premiere of Doris Day's Best Friends (1985) alongside his longtime friend Doris Day. Hudson died of AIDS on October 2, 1985. At the time, AIDS was thought to be transmitted through casual contact, and many people feared for Linda Evans's health because she had kissed Hudson in a scene.
