Ryan was originally meant to be a recurring character, but he was turned into a regular after Kerr Smith said that was the only way he would appear on the series.
Creator Liz Tigelaar had used the name Lux in a pilot project she had written earlier that was never greenlit, and she decided to use the name for this series. Tigelaar had come across the name while reading Jeffrey Eugenides' novel 'The Virgin Suicides'.
At the start of season 2, the error occurred because Rafi Gavron was unavailable due to other work commitments. As a result, a planned story involving Bug, Lux and Baze had to be cancelled.
Every episode title mimics the series title format by consisting of two words, with at least the second word in the past tense and often with a prefix, for example: Home INspectED, Rent UNcollectED, Formal REformED, Family TherapizeED, Storm WeatherED.
Sam was initially meant to be interested in Lux, but Landon Liboiron booked Terra Nova (2011) and would have left the series even if it had not been cancelled.
