   The 2019 season was the first in which the competition's preliminary elimination stage was brought to screen. In this stage, candidates cooked before the jury within a set time, and those approved by at least two jurors advanced to the next round. A 'reserve squad' system was also introduced; some contestants eliminated in the three-way duel could be called back to replace those eliminated from the main squad.
