The Lost Prince (2003) is a British television series about the life of Prince John, the youngest child of Britain's King George V and Queen Mary, who died in 1919 at the age of 13. John was autistic and suffered epileptic seizures, and the Royal Family tried to shield him from public view; the script did not present the Royal Family as unsympathetic, instead showing what it cost them emotionally (especially John's mother, Queen Mary). Poliakoff explores John's story, his relationship with his family and his brother Prince George, the political events of the period (such as the fall of the Romanov dynasty in 1917), and the love and devotion of his nanny, Charlotte Bill (Lalla).
