Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) includes a brief scene in which Ego's spores drift loose on the planet Earth. A cinema in the background was to show the Simon Williams Film Festival, with posters from his films and Nathan Fillion in the role of Simon. This led fans to speculate that Fillion would play Wonder Man, but in 2022 Marvel announced that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II had been cast. Fillion did, however, provide the voice of another version of Wonder Man in the animated series M.O.D.O.K. (2021).
