The Wire - The Most Realistic and Most Heavyweight Series in TV History
Although The Wire may initially seem like a fiction that doesn't mean much, it is a series that is not what it appears to be, standing far beyond the typical television format. The show's masculine structure has also reduced its female viewership rate. But then again, The Wire is the series with the most quality audience. The only series I can say this about is The Wire. During the period it aired, bureaucrats, prosecutors, and politicians watched this series. There is even such information that a man who founded a political party in a country in Europe said he would not accept into his party those who do not watch The Wire. Who knows, maybe even those criminals in the US love this series the most. The favorite series of people like Eminem and Stephen King is The Wire.
The Wire shared the realities of the region where it was broadcast with the world with such realism that there is not only no series but not even a film as realistic as The Wire. Although at first it may seem like a fiction that doesn't mean anything, over time when you get drawn into it, you begin to take great pleasure from the series. For example, in the intro there is a small, one-or-two-second spot where people throw stones at the camera and break it. That is exactly what The Wire is. Just like this act done by some naughty children, in The Wire tiny children are selling drugs.
In my opinion, The Wire is the best series, coming right after Breaking Bad. It is the only series that can measure up to Breaking Bad. Likewise, series like Oz, The Sopranos, Dekalog, and Chernobyl are also wonderful, but the levels of The Wire and Breaking Bad in the TV world are so high that the only series that can come close to them are the ones I just listed.
The Wire conveys the sociological realities of a region and the rottenness of bureaucracy, Baltimore as a corrupt world, to the viewer in every aspect so well that sociological theories that could be taught as a course in schools almost come into being. Nevertheless, The Wire is taught as a course in schools.
In conclusion, there is no other series in the TV world, including Breaking Bad, that appears as simple as The Wire yet builds such a deep structure and is this different.
While Breaking Bad contains theories on psychology, The Wire contains larger and broader theories on sociology.
There are no beautiful or handsome characters. This series, unlike the others, does not beautify a character sitting in a chair with different camera angles; on the contrary, it makes it seem like the most ordinary thing in the world. But the main point is the corruption both in government offices and in the streets.
