The crew of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom kept running into the crew of Rush Hour 3 (2007). At one point, while director Shaad Ali was shooting a scene, a stunt car from Rush Hour 3 entered the camera's frame and the shot had to be redone. Later, while Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta were filming the song "Ticket To Hollywood" at the Place de la Concorde, Jackie Chan could not resist stopping by the set to watch the shoot. Jackie loved the song, and although JBJ and Rush Hour 3 were filmed in the same locations, the two films' production units cooperated.

Anurag Kashyap and Tigmanshu Dhulia had written a script titled "Sangam Mail" for Shaad Ali. This was in 2003. The original script featured a boy and a girl sitting and waiting at the New Delhi train station. The boy, named Bunty, makes up a string of lies about himself to deceive the girl. Anurag Kashyap was furious when Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was released. Many people called and messaged him, harassing him and asking how he could write such a nonsensical film. Anurag told everyone that this was not the film he and Tigmanshu had written for Shaad in 2003. Anurag was angry that Tigmanshu was being credited as a script consultant. Anurag stated that the film was a sad derivative of the original story he had written for Shaad. Anurag added that two films were made from the same script. Bunty's character in Bunty Aur Babli came from "Sangam Mail". Tigmanshu declined to comment on the matter, saying that Shaad had been a friend since Dil Se and that he did not want any negative feelings. However, this was not the film he and Anurag had written for Shaad.
