The film was released in 1997. It went without a title for a long time; PAGLA was chosen in 1999, and after a long delay One Two Ka Four was finally selected.
Keith Stevenson appeared in a Hindi film nearly 10 years after Akayla (1991), in which he played the main villain; it remains his last notable Hindi film.
At 27:25 in the film there is a book of newspaper clippings about cases filed against KKV (the villain). One clipping attributes a rape case to KKV, but the photograph used is of 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra, who committed suicide after being harassed by a senior police officer.
Two songs, "Sona Nahi Na Sahi" and "Osaka Muraiyaa", were reused in the Tamil film Alli Arjuna (2002), in which A. R. Rahman also appeared and was the music composer.
At one point the film was titled "Dil Sacha Chehra Jhoota". That title was initially the name of Jackie Shroff's film "2001 - Do Hazaar Ek", and was also originally the title of Arjun Rampal's "Familywala".
Vinod Diwan was directing a film titled "One Two Ka Four" (Imaan Beimaan) in 1996, starring Chunky Pandey, Abhishek Kapoor and Madhoo. The film was ultimately shelved.
