    Manisha had already made several Nepali films and was not particularly interested in a career in Bombay. At a party in Delhi, a journalist friend of Manisha's encouraged her to come to Bombay and audition for a film. Manisha's family was not happy about the idea, but when they saw how excited she was by the offer, they told her she had 15 days to sign any film; if she did not sign one within 15 days, she would have to return to Nepal. Manisha auditioned for Boney Kapoor's Prem, and eventually auditioned for Saudagar, which she passed successfully.
