Several scenes of Killer Croc's backstory were cut from the final edit, including scenes depicting him as a social outcast his whole life because of his physical appearance and convincing himself that he was beautiful in his own way. Croc's paths crossed with Batman while he worked as a hired man for numerous crime bosses in Gotham and secretly planned to take over the business one day. There were also scenes showing his interest in sculpting with discarded materials. None of this was kept in the final cut except for jokes about Croc seeing himself as "beautiful." A scene was also deleted in which he fell ill during the helicopter escort to Midway City, vomited half-digested goat parts, then ate them again, disgusting the nearby Navy SEALs.

Jared Leto became so immersed in playing the Joker that he stayed in character on the film set even when he was not shooting. He even sent "Joker-like" gifts to his fellow actors: a live rat to Margot Robbie and bullets to Will Smith, a soiled Playboy magazine to Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and a dead pig, anal beads and used condoms for the whole crew. Scott Eastwood said Leto's behavior sometimes frightened him, and Smith stated that he never actually met the real Leto.

I'm definitely ready for it and I hope I don't disappoint." She also added, "To me there are always two characters. There is Harleen Quinzel and there is Harley Quinn. There are moments when Harleen takes control, and that's when she can manage it. Be rational, and then Harley takes control, and that's the more erratic side of things."

After both versions tested nearly the same, the studio ordered reshoots to reach a consensus between them.
