Filming for this movie was completed in 2001 and it was initially planned for release at Christmas 2001, then scheduled for April 2002 after the first test screenings. However, after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the US, the studio felt it was inappropriate to release a comedy spotlighting airline flight crew. After sitting on the shelf for another year and a series of edits that cut the guest roles of Robert Stack and Regis Philbin, the film finally opened in the summer of 2003. It quickly flopped and disappeared.
