   David S. Goyer created the character Abraham Whistler for the film trilogy adapted from the Blade comic book. Ironically, the character first appeared before the film's release in an episode of Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994), in which Blade made a guest appearance. Whistler was voiced by Malcolm McDowell in that episode. Whistler was later adapted into the comics' continuity.
