In 1998, after Gupt, Rajiv Rai was in London shooting his English-language film starring Sunil Shetty. The film's other actors were British. The film was shelved due to technical difficulties with the British government's rules on the use of London studio facilities. The film may be the dream project based on Shaheed Udham Singh that Rajiv later tried to make in 2006.

In 1991, Suniel Shetty signed for a film titled "Arzoo" with Nagma, to be produced by Pahlaj Nihalani. The cast included Shatrughan Sinha, Sunil Shetty, Nagma and Raj Babbar, with music by Anand Milind. It was shelved because of a dispute with Pahlaj, who insisted the film had to be a complete film. Having liked Baaghi, Pahlaj signed Deepak Shivdasani, knowing Shetty would be good in action films, but was shocked after seeing the film's rush; Deepak Shivdasani cast Sunil Shetty as a musician with no action at all in the film. Fearing the film would bomb, Pahlaj decided it was best to shelve it, and knowing that shelving it would hurt Suniel Shetty, he decided to announce two more films with Sunil so the industry would not back off and would keep signing him for other films. Rumours later began that Sunil Shetty was financing his own films and that Pahlaj was only a front.

After Yalgaar, Feroz was working on various ideas for his next film. He wanted to remake Dharmatma as "Agnikund", with Anil Kapoor playing the father and Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty playing his sons. Anil Kapoor turned down "Agnikund" in 1994 because he did not want to play the father of Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty. Feroz Khan had sold the audio, overseas video and theatre rights to Venus for 2.4 million. When the casting did not work out, Feroz Khan shelved the idea once again. The story of Agnikund leaked and the film Sapoot was made in 1996. Feroz later launched Prem Aggan in 1995 with Akshaye Khanna and Mamta Kulkarni. Feroz decided to put Prem Aggan on hold and launched Janasheen with Akshaye Khanna and Mamta Kulkarni. When Fardeen returned to India, he told his father he wanted to act in films. Feroz shelved Janasheen and revived Prem Aggan with Fardeen and Meghna Kothari.
