Production Story (4)

  1. #005

One of the decisions made very early of production was that this series would avoid fan service, and that legacy characters and references to other Star Wars stories would only appear if they were necessary to the story. This was because producer Tony Gilroy wanted to make the series feel real, especially by focusing on the lives of civilian characters and on dramatic storytelling.

Originally planned for a five-season run, the series will conclude after two seasons and 24 episodes, ending just before the events of Rogue One. This decision was made due to the lengthy production time and the necessary post-production time that made each season's production schedule almost two years. While season one's events took place over a few months, season two will span four years and be shown in four three-episode blocks with a year of time passing between blocks.
