Lost was filmed in Hawaii; Fringe's pilot was filmed in Toronto but set in Boston, the rest of the season was filmed in New York, and later seasons were filmed in Vancouver; The Strain was set in New York but most of its filming took place in Toronto; Manifest was set and filmed in New York. Emergence was filmed in the Greater New York area. Later in the season Terry O'Quinn joins the cast; he had previously been part of Lost (2004).

When Piper first meets Kindred (actually Emily) in the facility, there is a painting that apparently uses a particular shade of blue for the first time, and Piper is compared to it. The AI characters we see, such as Justin, Charlie, Sam and Noah, all wear this shade of blue on their shirts. It is also the color of the shirt Benny wears most often. Piper wears this color several times, and Helen once.
