    Seth Rogen said that, because of the show's real-life popularity in Hollywood, preparations for the second season were flooded with offers from real-life directors who wanted to play themselves in the series, in contrast to the first season, when they had to ask real directors whether they would appear as themselves in episodes written for them; some had to be politely turned down because they were not suitable as directors of the fictional films in Season 2. Rogen admitted the experience was extremely ironic and meta.
